Configured as a set of collective actions carried out with groups of women from different generations, Performative Practices / Clinical Experience is the answer to a nocturnal dream in which the artist found herself in a kind of prison dominated by forces that transform oppression into seemingly comfortable and safe scenarios. In this ambiguous environment, everyday gestures carried invisible marks of control and domination. Amidst the environment of seclusion and dominion, another woman appeared as the mother who protects and liberates. Hence the proposal to create a safe space for women to foster complicity and intimacy with creative processes. The experience is organized as a field of listening and invention, in which performative practice intertwines with a clinical exercise of attention and presence, proposing the elaboration of silenced narratives, as well as the restoration of memories, sensations, and desires erased by subtle forms of emotional and social coercion.
It is not about reliving traumas, but about reconstituting internal territories, naming and reconfiguring the contours of one’s own freedom. With this, the project unfolds into a program of encounters to strengthen bonds among participants regarding their ability to dream of other forms of life. In this journey of encounters, in response to the artist’s dream, dialogue and complicity become key to inventing ways out of the insurmountable. Carried out over the past few years, the process has intensified since the artist integrated the Red Threads Collective, within which she promotes encounters where weaving, sun-printing images, and drawing in an expanded field foster testimony and sharing of knowledge that broaden the horizon of concrete and symbolic spaces that persist in limiting daily life.
