In constant dialogue with her role as an educator and psychologist for over two decades, Robertha Blatt delves into the convergence of therapeutic practices and artistic expressions where presence and encounter are guiding principles for sensitizing the potentialities of bodies engaging with spaces, experiences and sensory materialities.

The collective nature of Blatt’s oeuvre surpasses a mere engagement with the finished works; rather, it emanates from the very conception of her artistic propositions, grounded in the dynamic exchange between individuals, institutions, communities, public spaces, artists, and other pivotal cultural agents.

Characterized by relational, installative and durational attributes, Robertha’s artistic practice extends beyond the conventional artist’s role: it encompasses endeavors such as organizing collective and itinerant exhibitions, interfacing with museum collections, devising educational initiatives, promoting roundtable discussions, mobilizing local communities, and collaboratively activating participatory works – events that can only unfold if conjugated in the first person singular and plural simultaneously.

Here, inseparable, “I” and “we” draw from the grammatical palette the ability of flexing verbs – articulating states, actions, and phenomena – while also presupposing an infinite array of mathematical operations from the pronouns’ sum, where the concept of authorship undergoes a transformative process, multiplying in significance when subtracted or divided. This approach therefore endows the equation with a subjective quality, elevating the unknown variables to a value ever exceeding that of the answers.
